You don’t have to step onto the court, field, or track to make a difference at Aurora (A-Town) Special Olympics.
Sometimes making a difference looks like giving a few hours of your time.
Special Olympics offers many day-of volunteer opportunities at competitions and events, but here in the A-Town community, volunteering can look like so much more. We love finding a place for people who simply want to give their time, talents, and hearts to support our athletes and our community.
- Maybe volunteering looks like helping us raise money so we can continue providing sports opportunities to our athletes.
- Maybe it’s selling candy bars, unloading boxes of Palisade peaches, working a concession stand, helping with a fundraiser, or setting up for an event.
- Maybe your talents are behind the scenes—helping create our website, designing something special, organizing equipment, taking photographs, or capturing the memories being made so our athletes and families can look back on them for years to come.
And sometimes volunteering simply means being there when an extra set of hands is needed.
There are so many ways to make a difference.
Our volunteers are parents, siblings, friends, community members, businesses, athletes, Unified Partners, coaches, and people who simply believe in what we’re building. Even our A-Town Program Coordinators are volunteers, giving their time because they believe in our athletes and the community surrounding them.
Every person who volunteers helps us create something bigger than a sports program.
You help us create a safe place where people can be themselves.
A place where athletes are celebrated for exactly who they are. A place where Unified Partners become friends. A place where coaches become mentors. A place where families find community. And a place where everyone has something valuable to contribute.
You don’t need to know anything about Special Olympics or sports to get involved. Bring us your time, your talents, your ideas, and your willingness to help—we’ll help you find a place to use them.
