About A-Town

Who we are as the Aurora Community

Welcome to Aurora Special Olympics – A-Town, where every athlete belongs, every achievement is celebrated, and every person is valued.

At Aurora Special Olympics, we believe that sports are about so much more than competition. They are about building confidence, creating friendships, discovering abilities, and becoming part of a community that truly cares.

We proudly offer opportunities for athletes of all abilities to participate throughout the year:

YOUNG ATHLETES
(Ages 2-7)

They can begin their journey through 5 of our 14 sports, developing motor skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of being active.

ATHLETES
(Ages 8–15)

They have the opportunity to participate in 10 of our 14 sports, learning teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and perseverance.

ATHLETES
(Ages 16 and Older)

They can enjoy all 14 sports we offer, with opportunities ranging from skill development and recreation to regional and state-level competition.

No matter where someone begins, there is a place for them here.

Our mission goes beyond sports. We strive to create a place where every athlete is seen, heard, encouraged, and celebrated. A place where friendships are formed, confidence grows, and everyone knows they belong. We want every individual who joins our program to feel that they are part of something bigger than themselves—a true community that believes in their potential.

One of the things that makes A-Town so special is the people who give their time and hearts to our athletes. Many of our coaches and Unified partners are also parents, siblings, caregivers, and lifelong advocates. They understand firsthand the importance of inclusion, encouragement, and creating opportunities for every athlete to succeed.

Our Program Coordinators proudly wear many hats as parents, caregivers, coaches, and supporters, bringing both professional leadership and personal passion to everything we do. Our A-Town Advisory Committee reflects the heart of our community as well, with athletes, coaches, parents, and supporters working together to help shape the future of our program.

Together, we are building more than successful athletes—we are building leaders, friendships, confidence, and a community where everyone has a place.

Here in A-Town, we aren’t simply athletes, parents, coaches, partners, or volunteers.

We are family.

We invite you to come experience the joy, encouragement, and sense of belonging that make the Aurora Special Olympics such a special place. Whether you’re an athlete, family member, volunteer, coach, Unified partner, or community supporter, there’s a place for you here.

Come be part of the A-Town family—where everyone belongs, everyone matters, and everyone has the opportunity to shine.
